Check out the tail skid on the new Boeing 747-8F. That’s a really neat shot.

In case you’re wondering what the tail skid does, it keeps the plane from getting damaged in the event the pilots over rotate on take off.

Actually, seeing this makes me wonder how many other planes out there have a tail skid like this installed and I just never noticed… Do you think the other 747-8Fs that are in test flights have the same type of tail skid installed?

On a different note, I’m using the “blog this” feature from Flickr to post this picture.

Even though the picture says “All Rights Reserved” Flickr is letting me use this on my blog. I’m not sure if my using the picture like this is good karma or not, but I hope that it is.
