While in Abilene, TX last year, I came across an entire field of these Saab turbo props. Some, looked like they’d just gotten there and others looked like they’d been there for awhile. Most of the planes looked as if they just needed a little bit of time in the maintenance hangar and they’d be good to go.

I always enjoy coming across a field of airplanes that have been mothballed. There’s just something about the place that I find soothing.

As you can see, these are all American Eagle planes, they are all Saab 340s and they all seem to await their fate. I don’t know if these planes are just there temporarily, until volumes improve or if they’re there awaiting final disposal or scrapping.
