I was reading over on the Dallas Morning news that Allegaint Airlines, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Allegiant Travel Co. headquartered in Enterprise, Nevada is buying some new planes to fly to Hawaii.
The majority of the current fleet is composed of MD-83s and MD-87s in various passenger configurations. Here’s a picture of one of those planes:

According to the Dallas Morning News, the airline will be buying some 757s from a European airline, for cash. Nicely done Allegiant, nicely done. Allegiant is saying that their customers are asking them to fly to Hawaii and they can’t service those routes with their current planes, so they’re buying some new ones.
They plan to start flying the 757s at the end of 2010, “once all regulatory hurdles have been cleared.”

757′s are a bit out of date but for an airline like this its good for them. the 757 is one of my favourite planes of all time.
I’ve been reading up some more on Allegiant, they probably picked 757s because they can get them for relatively cheap because of their age.
