According to the AP and local authorities, the Antonov An-12 cargo plane crashed on the Philippine island of Pampanga in the village of San Patricio, in a province named “Mexico.”
The chartered freighter flight originated at the international airport Manila Clark north of the capital.
Three of the six people on board the plane survived the accident.
According to the Department of Civil Aviation of the Philippines, on board were three citizens of Russia, two Uzbek citizens and a citizen of Bulgaria. The survivors were the Russian pilot Yuri Tochony, the co-pilot Dmitri Strumminsky and crew member Borhadyr Ruziev both of whom are from Uzbekistan.
The aircraft, registration UP-AN216, crashed in an open field, apparently due to an electric issue that caused a fire on the plane.
