I went out to DFW Airport’s Founder’s Plaza recently and took a bunch of fotos and video. Here are a couple of pictures that I took while I was out there that day.

The weather was not very cooperative that day, however there was a nice headwind for the planes to fly into. I tried to capture some of the adjustments that the pilots were having to make, but none of that came out in the videos nor in the photos.

Anyway, I just wanted to post a small preview of the pictures that I took that day. More of a prompt to myself to get the pictures finished than a teaser for you.

UPS A300

I like this picture because you can see the sculpture of the kids playing in the wind.

American Airlines 737-800

There were a lot of people out there, including a few little kids, or future avgeeks as I like to call them.

Future avgeek

This is crazy video footage of the collision between an Air France A380 with a Delta Connection CRJ at JFK Airport in New York.

I couldn’t figure out how something like this could have happened. I mean, I know the A380 is a huge plane, and maybe the pilot didn’t see the smaller CRJ and clipped it. From the video, it looks like the CRJ didn’t quite clear the taxiway and/or perhaps the A380 was not tracking down the middle of the taxiway.

I can only imagine how freaked out the people on the CRJ must’ve gotten when the plane was jolted like that. Folks, there’s a reason why we need to remain seated until the plane is at the terminal building and the fasten seatbelt sign is turned off.

Regardless, I’d love to see the insurance claim on this accident.

I would imagine that General Electric will use this plane to test new engine technology, but also electronics and other tech as well. I think, this is a beautiful looking plane. Then again, I am partial to the B747.
