Thai Airways has managed to find 3 B777-300ER to add to their fleet while they wait for Koito to furbish the seats for their brand new A330s sitting in storage in Bordeaux. Travel Biz Monitor reports that Jet Airways is leasing 3 B777-300ERs to Thai for a 3 year period.
I previously reported that Thai Airways has several A330 series planes parked in Bordeaux waiting for seats from Koito Industries.
It appears that Thai Airways got exactly what they were looking for. They wanted a 3 year lease on Boeing 777-300ER types configured in 3 classes with a business class area with fold flat seats. The planes are needed to service increased demand in their European routes.
Jet Airways seems to be happy with the deal as well. According to Nikos Kardassis, CEO, Jet Airways has been looking to align their installed capacity with their actual load factor, so leasing 3 of their B777-300ER to Thai helps them as well. Nothing quite like a win-win deal.
Here’s a Jet Airways 777 like the ones that were leased out:

Updated on 5/31/2010: Changed picture to a B777, I had mistakenly labeled a picture of an A330 as a B777

First of all you can ask me to publish this copyrighte photo.
Second..this is an airbus A330 and not a 777
Hi Pieter,
The picture was creative commons licensed with accreditation and sharealike, so I accredited and linked back to you, per the creative commons rules as I understand them. In any case, I claim “mental fog” for saying this A330 was a B777. I’ll change the picture to a B777, thanks for the heads up and sorry for the mixup.
Regards,
Rafael
The picture shows a Jet Airways Airbus A 330 – not a B777:)
Yeah, I claim “mental fog” when I said it was a B777, I’ll be updating the picture soon.
Thanks!
