Ryanair Drops Prague

Published on May 4, 2010, by in Commercial.

Ryanair has decided to stop flying to and from Prague due to a fee dispute with the Prague airport. The airline will begin drawing down service beginning on July 1 and will cease operations on October 28. Ryanair operated flights to/ from the Czech capital and four European destinations: Dublin, London, Stockholm and Frankfurt.

Ryanair has seen its number of passengers increase by 13% in 2009 (reaching 66 million), during the same time period, traffic from the Prague airport has decreased by 8%. Seems like they were playing a high stakes game of chicken and the airport blinked first.
