This is a picture from the first flight of the Airbus A400M military transport plane. The plane is several years late, over budget and several customers have cancelled their orders due to the delays.

Sound familiar?

From what I understand, the Airbus A400M is targeted at countries that want to upgrade their aging fleet of C-130 Hercules but can’t necessarily afford C-17 Globemaster jets. I could be wrong about that though.

I love the props on this plane. I don’t know if they’d look this cool in person. The effect we’re seeing is mostly related to the CCD on the digital camera capturing the frames, but the props still look cool.

Lots of stuff going on at Farnborough, it’s hard to keep up with everything!

The first flight took place in November, and I apparently, was asleep at the wheel for it. In any case, here’s some video of it for your enjoyment.
