Passed By A B787 On Final

This is some really cool video of a new Boeing B787 Dreamliner on final approach to runway 13R at Boeing Field. The video was shot by someone that was also on final approach, but to runway 13L, in a Cessna 172. I remember, way back when, when I was learning to fly, I’d get passed by B737 and the occasional B757 heavy on when I was on approach to the old Robert Mueller airport in Austin, TX.

I wish I’d had a camera back then. Gotta love the new little cameras like the Zi8 by Kodakand the Flip Mino.

Airplane in flight in Google Maps

I know that lots of other people have found airplanes in flight on Google maps, but this is the first time that I’ve found one. I was looking up an address in Beverly Hills and started looking around the Van Nuys airport when I spotted this little gem:

You may need to zoom in quite a bit to see it, but it looks like a good old fashioned Cessna 172 coming in on final to runway 16 L.

This is when my mind starts to go nuts. I wonder if it’s a flight student, or a private owner, or someone from an aviation club coming in for that landing. I’m also wondering if it could be someone flying in for the day or is that where they live and they’re coming home.

Yeah, I think I might have spent too much time looking at this foto too.

Cessna 172 Take Off Video

This is a cool video taken with a Kodak Zi8 camera of a Cessna 172 in taking off from runway 34 at Sterling airport. Sterling is in New England or something like that.

Makes me want to go out and start flying.
