The "New" United Livery

Given that today marks the beginning of trading etc. for the “new” United Airlines formed from the merger of the “old” United Airlines and Continental Airlines, I figured I’d share the new livery with y’all. Livery, is just a fancy way of saying “the way the planes are going to be painted.”

Most people, myself included, are not impressed with the “new” livery. I think it lacks imagination. What do you think?

Henan Airlines Posts Picture Of Crashed Plane

Henan Airlines has posted a picture of their crashed plane on their website homepage. To me, it seems like a crazy move. It just seems like bad public relations to post a picture of a crashed jet on your homepage.

It reminds me of that old Dudley Moore movie where he’s an advertising executive that loses it and starts to show airline clients ads of their crashed planes. I’m probably the only person that remembers that movie.

"My Plane" a Dornier 328

I like to say that this is my plane, even though it’s not. I use a picture of this plane as my twitter background image. If I had the money to own and buy a plane, I’d want something like this.

I want something that’s big enough for me to bring along the family, yet comfortable enough that people won’t be in each other’s space.

This particular plane is setup in executive transport style. It seats 10, has a full galley and a lavatory. I wish I had the money to buy it.

The Do328 was not a commercial success, but I’ve found that there are quite a few of them flying around the world. Most of the planes currently in commercial service are the jet variants, but there are a few turbo props around.

First Class On Regional Jets

American Eagle has started their first class service on their CRJ planes. I think the first class seats look nice, my question is, how will Embraer respond to this development.

In ERJ-145s, there’s not a lot of space to add a first class cabin, and the roof line is really low. I would hope that Embraer would be able to squeeze a first class cabin into their larger ERJ-190s or something like that, but I speculate.

Mitsubishi Has Big Hopes For Its MRJ – Mitsubishi Regional Jet

Video from Farnborough, of a brief interview with Mitsubishi about their upcoming Mitsubishi Regional Jet. All Nippon Airlines announced an order for 30 of these planes, making them a launch client, so Mitsubishi is already a step of ahead of Bombardier and their C-series since they actually have an order for their planes.

Anyway, I make no promises about how long this video will stay viewable. For some reason BBC videos tend to disappear after a few days.
