Bernardo Malfitano aka “AirShowFan“, a friend of the site, is one of the engineers that was working on this project. In a recent podcast interview that I had with him, we learned that he was studying the effect of metal fatigue etc. in this new plane. If I could go back to college and become an engineer, I would, just so I could get to work on cool stuff like this.
Here’s the finalized configuration on the 787-9:
* Seating: 250 to 290 passengers (40 more than the -8)
* Cruise speed: Mach 0.85
* Range: More than 8,000 nautical miles.
* Wing span: 197 feet (60 meters)
* Length: 206 feet (63 meters)
* Configuration: Twin aisle
Congratulations to Bernardo and the rest of the team for reaching this milestone in the development of this beautiful aricraft!
Valeu!
