Video From Stearman Plane Crashing At Reagan Airport

This is video from the front seat of the vintage Stearman biplane that crashed at Reagan National Airport (DCA) earlier today. This is as close as I ever want to be to a plane crash.



Both occupants of the Stearman were able to walk away from the plane after the wreck. I think the old saying “any landing you can walk away from is a good landing” needs to be amended with “unless you close the airport.”

Reagan National Airport’s main runway was closed for a few hours while the biplane was removed. The Stearman was part of a group of 8 planes that was flying in to DC to promote the new Legends of Flight 3D IMAX movie. I’m not saying this was done on purpose, but I don’t think the PR people could’ve come up with a better stunt to get a ton of press for the new movie.
